FLETCHER — Funeral for Don W. Hooper, 87, Fletcher, will be at 2 p.m. Friday in First Baptist Church, Fletcher, with the Rev. A.L. Swagerty, officiating. Mr. Hooper died Monday, April 23, 2007, in a Duncan care center.

Burial will be in Elgin Cemetery under direction of Becker Funeral Home of Fletcher (formerly Robbins Funeral Home).

He was born Aug. 8, 1919, in Elgin, to Daniel W. and Verna E. Ribelin Hooper. He grew up in Elgin and was a graduate of Elgin High School. He attended Cameron College and later transferred to Oklahoma State University, where he studied agricultural engineering. He married Lois Robinson on Dec. 19, 1945. He farmed west of Fletcher and had worked at Moorman Feeds. He had also been an insurance agent for Oklahoma Farmer's Union for more than 40 years. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Fletcher, where he had served as a greeter. He served on the Soil Conservation Board for more than 50 years, was a past member of the International Order of Oddfellows and was an honorary member of the Fletcher Chapter of FFA.

Survivors include his wife, of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, D.W. and Roberta Hooper, Fletcher; two daughters and a son-in-law: Laveta and Jon Long, Lawton; and Patty Ryder, Fletcher; a sister, Elizabeth Wright, Gainesville, Md.; four grandchildren and their spouses: Melinda and Brian Kincaid, Dustin Hooper, Stefanie and Jeremy Roberts, and Colby Ryder and his fiancé, Krystal Black; three great-grandchildren: Amanda and Madison Kincaid, and Braeden Roberts; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Roy B. Hooper; and three sisters: Sybil, Ariel and Lucille.
