Notes for Pamela Jane Eudy
Pamela Eudy Harris

“Heaven is a little closer in a house by the lake.” reads a plaque in Pamela Harris’ Badin Lake home overlooking the serene water where Pam watched the sun sink peacefully into the water. Sunset was Pam’s favorite time of the day. The glass room where this sign is displayed boasts some of the prettiest sunsets and truly shows God’s glory.

Pamela Jane Eudy Harris was born on September 30, 1954 and entered heaven on August 11, 2023 with loved ones by her side. Her husband of 49 years, Raymond Steven Harris, became Pam’s high school sweetheart at Albemarle Senior High School in 1972 the moment he laid eyes on her in biology class. They have been inseparable ever since. Pam and Steve married at Anderson Grove Baptist Church in Albemarle on June 16, 1974. Once Steve joined the US Air Force the couple embarked on an exciting journey that took them to Florida, Panama, Colorado, Germany, and then back home to Albemarle when Steve retired from the US Air Force after 20 years of dedicated service with Pam by his side. Pam continued to support Steve as he began his post-military career at Phillip Morris in Concord, NC. Pam was happy when Steve retired completely so they could spend more time together traveling and having fun.

Pam was a hairdresser for decades and is responsible for countless people’s well-coiffed hair from Colorado to North Carolina. Many people know her smiling face and good conversations from Modern Beauty Salon, Hair Cuttery, and Gerald’s Salon, just to name a few. She also had a home salon that came with a Great Dane welcoming committee. Pam always had two Great Danes. Those big babies loved their momma. When they stood up on their hind legs they were taller than 4’ 11” Pam. She for sure had a parade of dogs when she entered those pearly gates just waiting to plant slobbery kisses all over her face. Gretta and Reese are still here on earth to comfort Steve. Gretta is a momma’s girl who was always sleeping with Pam and laying by her feet. Pam also has many granddogs.

Pam and Steve raised two successful sons, Bryan and Chris. Pam was immensely proud of her sons. Bryan did one tour of duty in the US Air Force and is a graduate of Albemarle Senior High School, Phoenix University Online, and Stanly Community College in Albemarle, NC. He resides in Albemarle and is a Radiology Engineer with Atrium Health Stanly. Pam and Steve have two beautiful grandchildren who Pam talked about regularly. Dylan Harris, 22, and Chloe Harris, 20 both reside in Albemarle and were the apple of Pam’s eye. Chris Harris, Pam’s youngest son, is a graduate of Albemarle Senior High School and Pfeiffer University Charlotte. Chris resides in the Ballantyne community of Charlotte with his wife, Pam’s daughter-in-law, Christie Garland, JD. Christie graduated from North Stanly High School, Pfeiffer University in Misenheimer, NC, and Regent University School of Law in Virginia Beach, VA. Chris is the Manager of Imaging Technical Support for Dentsply Sirona in Charlotte, NC. Chris is also a producer, director, and editor for ETBN (Eternal Truth Broadcasting Network) located in Memphis, TN and Charlotte, NC, alongside Christie who is on-air talent and the Southeast Bureau Chief for the faith-based network.

In Pam’s later years, she could be seen at the front desk of the Stanly County YMCA greeting members, answering questions, and checking folks in. Pam was a busy lady with Albemarle VFW Post 2908, cooking, going on vacations, watching General Hospital, and going to concerts of her favorite musician of all time Bruce Springsteen. She adored Bruce Springsteen! Steve made sure Pam had tickets to Bruce’s concerts every time he came to North Carolina. Even when Pam was no longer able to speak while in the hospital she hummed along with Springsteen’s hit, “Dancing in the Dark.”

Myrtle Beach was Pam’s second home. She was the happiest sitting on the beach with her toes in the sand. Pam and Steve have a beach getaway at Myrtle Beach Travel Park. They enjoyed cruising the beach on their golf cart and listening to the waves crashing. Pam called the beach her “happy place.” She enjoyed an annual Mother’s Day beach trip where she often invited friends and family to join her.

Pam has many dear family members including her sister Bobbie Eudy Whitley and brother-in-law Pastor Barry Whitley along with their two sons, Pam’s nephews, Grant Whitley and Alan Whitley who Pam loved along with their families. Also, sister Billie Eudy Burleson and brother-in-law King Carol (K.C.) Burleson are already in heaven ready to greet her. They have two daughters, Pam’s nieces, Tracy Burleson Bowers and Robin Burleson Whittaker who Pam adored along with their families. Pam’s loving parents Etta Jane Sells Eudy and William Price Eudy of Stanly County are also awaiting Pam’s arrival in heaven. Pam adored Steve’s brothers including her brother-in-law Benny Harris of Albemarle. She loved Benny’s children, Pam’s nieces and nephews: Adam Harris, Brandon Harris, Chelsea Harris, Ben Harris, and their families. Also, Pam dearly loved her niece Wendy Harris Green who is already in heaven. Pam cherished Steve’s brother, her brother-in-law, Mark Harris. Pam also cherished Mark’s wife, Pam’s sister-in-law, Marindy Bost Harris of Albemarle, and their daughter Laura Carpenter and her family. Pam’s dear mother and father-in-law, Steve’s parents, Jeraline Mabry Harris and Bedford Junior Harris both of Albemarle will be in heaven to welcome Pam.

Visitation at the Stanly Funeral Home in Albemarle, NC will be from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm on Monday, August 14. Interment at Stanly Gardens of Memory is at 10:00 am on Tuesday, August 15. Pam’s brother-in-law, Pastor Barry Whitley, of Albemarle Foursquare Church will deliver the eulogy. Flowers are welcome, or memorials can be made in Pamela Harris’ name to “Great Dane Friends of Ruff Love” animal rescue.

Everyone is invited to gather for refreshments at Albemarle Foursquare Church located at 24238 South Business 52, Albemarle, after the graveside services.
