Baxter C. Smith
Baxter Clarence Smith, 85, of Norwood passed away Monday morning October 9, 2017 at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00PM Wednesday October 11, 2017 at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church. Rev. David Hatley will officiate and burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Mr. Smith was born on November 13, 1931 in Stanly County to the late Jason Cephus and Nannie Blalock Smith. Baxter was a 1950 graduate of Norwood High School and worked many years at Young Manufacturing and retired from Stanly Fixtures. He was a member at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church where he spent many hours mowing the yard and cleaning up. He also enjoyed the annual Harvest Sale.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife, Lilly Faye Little Smith, two son-in-laws, three sisters, and five brothers.
He is survived by his two daughters, Nadine Harris and Anita Thompson, both of Norwood; five grandchildren, three great-children, and three step great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Stanly and Uwharrie; or Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, Norwood, NC.
