Lilly Faye Smith
Lilly Faye Little Smith, 83, of Norwood passed away early Thursday morning, May 19, 2016 at her home.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00PM, Saturday, May 21, 2016 at Mount Zion United Methodist Church in Norwood. Rev. David Hatley will officiate and burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 3:00 at the church.
Lilly Faye was born July 25, 1932 in Stanly County to the late Lee and Ruth Frick Little. She was a graduate of Aquadale High School and was an active member of Mount Zion United Methodist Church. She was a retired seamstress of Cassie Cotillion.
Lilly Faye loved her church and church family. She had served as president and spiritual life leader of the United Methodist Women, Sunday school teacher, UMYF leader and member of the choir. She believed in the power of prayer and will be remembered for the beautiful prayers she would share with the congregation of her church.
She believed in serving others, whether preparing a meal, sharing her garden produce or repairing a garment, she was always willing to do what was needed.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Raeford Thompson; sister, Bertie Lanier and her husband, Julian and brother -in-law, James B. Edwards.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Baxter C. Smith of the home; daughters, Nadine Harris and husband, Lanny and Anita Thompson all of Norwood; grandchildren, Michael Harris, Amy Harris, Jeff Thompson and wife, Haley, Gina Greene and husband, Mike, Dustin Thompson and wife, Bessie; three great-grandchildren, Jacy Noble, Peyton Thompson and Kenna Greene; three step great-grandchildren, Landon, Levi and Lela Greene; sisters, Aileen Edwards of Norwood, Margie Drye and husband, Bob of Concord, Sue Hathcock and husband, Boyd of Locust, and Frances Thompson and husband, Philip of Mount Holly and brother Robert Little and wife, Saundra of Norwood.
The family wishes to thank special friend, Mary Mabry for her love and support.
