Lois Canup Pickler
SALISBURY - "Lois" Janet Canup Pickler, 74, of Salisbury, passed away Monday, Nov. 5, 2007, at her residence.
Mrs. Pickler was born Oct. 9, 1933, in Rowan County, the daughter of the late Henry Albert Canup and Ethel Linker Canup. Educated in the Rowan County schools, she was a member of Lyerly Evangelical Church, where she had been a former Sunday School teacher, former Council member and had worked with the youth groups. She was currently serving on the Christian Evangelism Committee.
She was a wonderful cook, made baby blankets and crocheted bedspreads. Mrs. Pickler had worked for Granite Knitwear, Laguna and Gerber Knitwear as a seamstress.
Survivors include husband Clarence Shuford Pickler, whom she married Aug. 19, 1950; son Rev. Paul L. Pickler and wife Debbie of Liberty; brother Rev. Jimmy Ray Canup and wife Mary of Galax, Va.; sister Alice Fay Canup Overcash and husband Jerry of Salisbury; and grandchildren Jennifer Pickler and Matthew Pickler.
Visitation: 7-8:30 tonight at Powles Funeral Home, Rockwell, and the remainder of the time, the family will be at the residence.
Funeral Services: 11 a.m. Thursday at Lyerly Evangelical Church, Rockwell, conducted by Rev. W.C. "Junior" Gaither, pastor. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Memorials: Lyerly Evangelical Church, Rockwell, NC; or Rowan Regional Home Health & Hospice.
