Joseph A. "Tony" Nobles, 74, a longtime resident of Alamogordo, died Saturday, Dec. 1, at his home.
Nobles was born Nov. 21, 1927, in California. He served in the U. S. Army during World War II. He retired in 1993 from White Sands Missile Range as a communications supervisor.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Edith J. Nobles, of the family home; a daughter, Cathy Cox, and her husband, Danny, of Las Cruces; a granddaughter, Cassandra Cox, of Las Cruces; his children by a former marriage, Ted and Janice Sawyer; a sister, Ruby Hull, and her husband, Ralph, of Ruidoso; a brother, Johnny Nobles, and his wife, Jeannie, of El Paso; a brother-in-law, Floyd Bourbon of Ruidoso; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives; and treasured friends and fishing buddies, Wesley "Woody" Wood, Craig Wilkey and Tom Morton.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Pamela Jean Nobles; by a son, Joseph Antonio Nobles Jr.; by his parents, Oscar and Ramona (Rivers) Nobles; and by a sister, Ramona Bourbon.
Funeral services will be conducted tomorrow at 10 a.m. in the Hamilton-O'Dell Chapel with Pastors Jack Brock and Ron Johnson officiating.
Interment will follow in Monte Vista Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Wesley "Wood" Wood, Craig Wilkey, Tom Morton, Chris Wood, Ernie Martinez and Jack Hefner. Honorary bearers wil be Don Stockstill and Matt Matheney.
Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to the Christ Community Church Youth Group, 2960 Scenic Drive, Alamogordo.
