Peggy Simpson
Mrs. Peggy Lucille “Nana” Leonard Simpson, 79, of China Grove, passed away with both children by her side on Friday, Feb. 4 at Atrium Health Cabarrus in Concord.
Born April 28, 1942, Mrs. Simpson was the daughter of the late Milburn Leonard and Dorthy Frick Leonard.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by the love of her life, Phillip “Phil” Simpson.
Survivors include her son, Michael Simpson and wife, Jessie of Simpsonville, S.C.; daughter, Ashley Volz and husband Nick of New Orleans, La.; two brothers, Bud Leonard of Salisbury and Gene Leonard of Gold Hill; grandchildren, Boo and Elliot Simpson, Stella and Wendell Volz.
Nana loved her life, her friends, her family and nature with all her heart. She was an avid card player, master fisherman, amateur botanist and world traveler. Her passion for people was unmatched.
Arrangements: A memorial service is scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 12, at Mt. Zion United Church of Christ. Rev. Larry Bolick and Rev. Kelly Barefoot will officiate.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to any charity of choice in her name.
