SALISBURY - Robert Lee Fisher, age 92, of Salisbury, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 3, 2014 at Genesis Eldercare.

Mr. Fisher was born April 11, 1922, in Rowan County the son of the late Mildred Kenerly Fisher and Homer Lee Fisher. He was educated in the Rowan County Schools and Granite Quarry High School and was a Veteran of the U.S. Navy serving in WWII. Robert was employed by Wagoner Construction Company for over 50 years. He enjoyed carpentry and woodwork.

Preceding him in death in addition to his parents are his wife Elsie Rufty Fisher whom died June 10, 2012 and brother Jim Fisher.

Those left to cherish his memories are his son Robert Donald Fisher (Melba) of Salisbury; daughter Phyllis Whirlow (Ted) of Salisbury; sisters Peggy Dillard (Gene) of Winston-Salem, Janet Kepley (Ray) of Salisbury and Pat Peeler (John) of Salisbury; grandson Scott Croyle; and good friends and neighbors John and Carole Morrison.

Services: 12:30 p.m., Friday, Sept. 5 at Rowan Memorial Park Mausoleum conducted by Rev. Steve Combs, minister of Milford Hills United Methodist Church. Visitation will follow the memorial service.

Memorials: Memorials may be made to Donor's Choice.

A special thanks to the staff of Genesis Healthcare for all their help and support for the man they affectionately called "Papa".
