BELMONT - Mr. James Ray Park Sr., 83, of Belmont, passed away Aug. 5, 2014, at Novant Health Rowan Medical Center in Salisbury.

Born on July 19, 1931 in Rowan County, he was the son of the late John B. and Pearl Trexler Park. He was a graduate of Rowan County schools and graduated from NC State University in mechanical engineering. He served his country in the U.S. Navy.

He was an active member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Charlotte. He retired from Duke Power Co. where he was manager of the Allen Steam Plant for 17 years.

In his spare time, he liked to camp, gardening and eating at Hardees for breakfast.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Toby O. Park in 2009.

Those left to cherish his memory are his children, James Ray Park Jr. of New London, Lori Park Blevins (James) of Belmont and Sherri Park Gooch (Kenneth) of Salisbury. His sister is Riley Burton of Salisbury. Grandchildren include James Ray Park III, Dustin James Blevins, Kenneth Allen Park, Samantha Maria Blevins and Grace Cameron Blevins.

Arrangements: Visitation is Saturday from 1-2 p.m. at Linn-Honeycutt Funeral Home in China Grove with funeral at 2 p.m., also at the funeral home with Rev. George Gilbert, minister. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn West Cemetery in Charlotte.

Memorials: May be made to American Cancer Society.
