Gertie Hurlocker Lowder

Gertie Hurlocker Lowder 95, of Finger Rd. Mount Pleasant, passed away on December 13th, 2017 at Bethany Woods Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Funeral service will be Sunday December 17th, 2017 2pm at Bethel (Bear Creek) Reformed Church officiated by Rev. Patrick McCabe and Rev. Darrell Rabon. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Gertie was born January 13th, 1922 in Cabarrus County to the late John Crooks and Eltha Hahn Hurlocker. She was a lifetime member of Bethel (Bear Creek) Reformed Church. She loved the Lord and family; she found good things in all people. She loved singing in the church choir, and attending the Young at Heart Club. She also was a member of the Women’s Fellowship, which chose her as woman of the year in 2000. She enjoyed making flower arrangements and crafts. She was the owner and operator of Gertie’s Beauty Shop. Her cooking specialties were making homemade apple butter and mints.

She was preceeded in death by her husband Ralph JD Lowder of 55 years, a son Jeris Lowder of Fort Mill SC, five sisters and two brothers.

Survivors include a daughter Lois Rabon (Joe) of Mount Pleasant and a step granddaughter Angie Herrin (Jody), four grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

The family would like to say a special thank you to all that loved and took care of her while at Bethany Woods. You did a great job and it will never be forgotten.
