Notes for Jeris Crooks “Jake” Lowder
Jeris (Jake) Lowder

Jeris (Jake) Lowder was a man so loved and respected by everyone who knew him. Born in Albemarle, NC, he attended Central Piedmont College in Charlotte, NC, graduating with a diploma in Heating, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration. Upon graduation, he worked with the Mechanical Operations Department in Charlotte Memorial Hospital in Charlotte, NC, which today has evolved into the CMC Healthcare system for the Carolinas. He then served in the United States Air National Guard, after completing basic training and technical school. He received a certificate in maintenance on Aircraft and Reciprocating Engines. He served four years in the Air National Guard in Charlotte. During this time, he was recommended by his former Air Conditioning instructor at Central Piedmont College for a position with Realty Equities of New York to revamp and manage the maintenance of the then Barringer Hotel in Charlotte. He spent over a year at The Barringer Hotel and was relocated to another Realty Equities Hotel property in Baton Rouge, Louisiana to supervise and overhaul their Mechanical Operations Department. He worked for forty years in Atlanta, Georgia as a Chief Building Mechanical Operations Engineer for large office building properties, including Allan Grayson Realty Properties, Coca-Cola World Headquarter Building, and the Georgia Pacific Tower. He then retired with his wife Marla to Fort Mill, South Carolina in 2008.

Jake spent his life fully devoted to loving God and his family. He loved his precious wife, Marla, his soul mate, with the love of Christ. Married 49 years, his love was deep and loyal, and he cherished his beautiful bride until the day he went to be with his precious Savior. As a father, he loved his two girls more than any daughter could ask for, and his “grandgirls” loved and adored their “Poppy” as much as he loved and adored them. He is survived by Marla and their two children, Mrs. Marcy E. Barwick and her husband, Marcus, Mrs. Mendy A. Baxter and her husband Sean, and four grandchildren (Emily Barwick-14 years, Annabelle Baxter- 9 years, Chloe Barwick- 9 Years, and Lila Baxter- 8 years). Both families reside in York County, South Carolina.
