Monday, September 16, 2013 — Homer Ray Almond, 81 years of age, of Albemarle, passed away Saturday, September 14, 2013 at Stanly Regional Medical Center in Albemarle.
Homer was born August 15, 1932 in Stanly County, to the late Homer Vance Almond and the late Vetra Sasser Almond. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Annie Lillian Moyle Almond in 2007 and son, Terry Wayne Almond in 1996.
The family receive friends from 1-2 p.m. Monday at Hartsell Funeral Home in Albemarle. Immediately following the visitation, the funeral service was held in Hartsell Funeral Home's Lefler Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow at Friendship United Methodist Church, 24696 Hwy. 73, Albemarle, NC 28001.
He is survived by his daughter, Lorene (Robbie) Tucker; sons, Johnny Ray (Jackie) Almond and David Allen (Laurie) Almond of Albemarle; brother, Julius Almond; sisters, Faye Hatley and Hazel Hagans; 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle is serving the Almond family.
