SALISBURY - Roy Lee "Yea Boy" Ritchie Sr., 86, of Salisbury, died Thursday, Dec. 1, 2005, at Genesis Eldercare.

Born Oct. 6, 1919, in Cabarrus County, Mr. Ritchie was a son of the late Daniel and Exie Barringer Ritchie. Educated in Rowan County schools, he was a 1937 graduate of Boyden High School. Mr. Ritchie served with honor and distinction with the U.S. Marine Corps in the Pacific Theater during World War II and was a part of the Iwo Jima campaign. He retired as a plant manager from Stanback Company in 1982 after 43 years of service.

A former member of Messiah Lutheran Church, Mr. Ritchie was currently a member of Christiana Lutheran Church and the Men 's Bible Sunday School Class.

He was preceded in death by his first wife of 49 years, Mary Bland Weddington Ritchie, on Nov. 19, 1988, and a son, Roy Lee Ritchie Jr., on March 9, 1998.

Survivors include his second wife, Mary Frances Wilhelm Ritchie, whom he married Dec. 5, 1993; son Daniel Edward Ritchie and wife Hyon of Fayetteville; daughters Pam Ritchie Bost and husband Randy "Flip" of Statesville and Vanessa Ritchie Goodman and husband Neal of Granite Quarry; daughter-in-law Linda Ritchie of Salisbury; grandsons Jerry Lee Ritchie of Lexington and Ryan M. Bost and wife Angie of Statesville; great-grandsons Reid and Raleigh Bost of Statesville; step-son Mike "Mickey" Wilhelm and wife Donna of Mint Hill; step-daughter Marsha Wilhelm Beaver and husband Dale of Rockwell; step-grandchildren Tim Wilhelm and wife Alisa of Monroe, Leslie Wilhelm of Charlotte, Matt Beaver of Rockwell, Adina Beaver Martin and husband Michael of Granite Quarry ; step-great-grandsons Ales Straight and Andrew Straight and Ethan Martin of Granite Quarry; and step-great-granddaughters Mallory and Olivia Wilhelm of Charlotte.

Service : 3 p.m. Sunday at Christiana Lutheran Church conducted by the Rev. Carl M. Haynes. The Men 's Bible Sunday School Class from Christiana Lutheran Church will be seated as a group. Burial will follow at Rowan Memorial Park with military graveside rites by Rowan County Honor Guard.

Visitation : 6:30-9 tonight at Lyerly Funeral Home.
