SALISBURY - Mary Frances Hodge Wilhelm Ritchie, 90, of Salisbury, passed away Monday, Sept. 10, 2012, at Rowan Regional Medical Center.

She was born May 10, 1922, in Rowan County, a daughter of the late Banks L. Hodge and Ila Augusta Airial.

After graduating from Boyden High School in 1937, Mary Frances was a homemaker and later worked as a Manager for the S&H Green Stamp Store for many years. She was also a member of the Duke Power Retiree Club.

She had been a member of Haven Lutheran Church, where she was active in the choir, a Luther League Church Advisor, directed Children's Choir for many years, member of the Women's Group and Sewing Circle. She was also a Senior Choir Director at Wittenberg Lutheran Church.

She sang at many weddings and also served as staff soloist at Lyerly Funeral Home, where she brought comfort through her beautiful singing to many grieving families. Until her death, she remained an active member of Christiana Lutheran Church.

Volunteer activities included grade school mother and providing programs at the VA Medical Center, area churches, nursing and retirement homes.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Everette Wilhelm, in 1992 after 53 years of marriage; and her second husband, Roy L. Ritchie, in 2005.

Survivors include son Michael (Mickey) Wilhelm and wife Donna of Mint Hill; daughter Marsha Wilhelm Beaver and husband Dale of Rockwell; grandchildren Tim Wilhelm and wife Alisa of Monroe, Leslie Wilhelm of Charlotte, Adina Beaver Martin and husband Michael of Granite Quarry and Matt Beaver of Kannapolis; great-grandchildren Mallory and Olivia Wilhelm of Monroe, Alex and Andrew Straight and Ethan Martin of Granite Quarry.

Visitation: 2-3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 12 at Christiana Lutheran Church, 6190 U.S. 52 Hwy., Salisbury, NC 28146.

Funeral: 4 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 12 at Christiana Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Carl M. Haynes officiating. Burial to follow at Wittenberg Lutheran Church Cemetery, 114 W. Bank St., Granite Quarry, NC, 28072.

Memorials: Pastor's Discretionary Fund, Christiana Lutheran Church.
