SALISBURY - Douglas Gregory "Greg" Earnhardt, 68, of Salisbury, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 9, 2012, at Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte.
He was born March 17, 1944, in Rowan County, a son of the late James Douglas Earnhardt and Inez Rector Earnhardt.
Greg was a 1962 graduate of East Rowan High School. He had been employed in advertising with Food Lion before his retirement. Prior to that, he worked at the Salisbury Post.
Greg will be remembered for his joking ways and sense of humor.
Some of Greg's hobbies included photography, camping and spending time with his beloved grandchildren. He was an avid Green Bay Packers fan. He was a member of the CMC Miata Club and Wittenberg Lutheran Church.
Left to cherish his memories are wife Barbara Earnhardt Earnhardt of Salisbury, who he married Oct. 16, 1966; sons Darren Earnhardt (Heather) of Charlotte and Shane Earnhardt (Manalle) of China Grove; brothers James Robert Earnhardt (Jo) of Fort Valley, Ga., and Victor Earnhardt (Maebelle) of Indian Trail; four grandchildren Makenzie, Maddox, Braxton and Cooper Earnhardt; and his beloved dog and buddy, Blossom.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, Sept. 12 from 2:30 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. at Wittenberg Lutheran Church located on Bank Street in Granite Quarry, 28072; and at other times, the family will be at the residence. A memorial service will follow at 4 p.m. with Pastor Tom Cogan officiating.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Humane Society of Rowan County.
