Former Alaska resident Susan Nadine Ribelin, 27, died July 1 in Wailuku, Maui, Hawaii, of cardiac failure due to bulimia. A memorial service was held at Evergreen Memorial Chapel, downtown. The Rev. James Stephens of Providence Hospital officiatee. Her ashes were scattered at Flat Lake.

Miss Ribelin was born March 5, 1965, in Bainbridge, Md., while her father was stationed there with the Navy. Her family returned to Anchorage, where they lived until moving to Eagle River in 1977. She attended Gruening Junior High and Chugiak High School, where she was a member of the swim team and involved in other school activities. She graduated in 1983 and moved to Anchorage, where she completed travel school in 1988. She moved to Hawaii this year. Miss Ribelin enjoyed reading and outdoor activities, including water skiing. She was truly happy while caring for her many critters, her family said.

Miss Ribelin is survived by her parents, Wayne and Nadara of Flat Lake and Robert and Terlyn Ribelin of Anchorage; her sister, Deborah Richter of Anchorage; her brothers, Laron and Martin Williams of Seattle and Daniel and Douglas Ribelin of Anchorage; her grandparents, Laron and Mercedes Martin of Big Lake, Lee Ribelin of Anchorage and Bessie Johnson of Raleigh, N.C., and Nadine Williams of Williamsburg, Iowa; and her friend and companion, Tom Christie of Maui.
