Notes for Shirley Mae Hopkins
Shirley Mae Eudy

Shirley Mae (Hopkins) Eudy, 64, of Rockwell, passed away on Tuesday, December 13, 2016. She was the loving wife of Ralph Eudy to whom she was married 44 years.

Shirley was born on August 5, 1952 in Rowan County to the late William Ray and Lillie Mae (Wagoner) Hopkins. She graduated from East Rowan High School and went on to attend Rowan Tech in Salisbury. Shirley worked for Thorlo, Inc. for over 30 years as a quality controller. Her "Thorlo Family" was very special to her and she loved them all dearly.

She was a devoted member of St. Stephen's Lutheran Church in Gold Hill.

Shirley loved to travel and especially enjoyed her trips to Hawaii. She loved the outdoors and spending time at the beach. Spent a lot of time in her garden and canning food. She also loved to cook for her family, and enjoyed making food for family reunions and homecoming.

Most of all, Shirley enjoyed spending time with her family, and had a special place in her heart for her granddaughters who she loved to take out to eat and to go shopping. She loved to spend time on the family farm where she could be found often. Shirley was always there for her family no matter what and would help them whenever they needed her without question. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and will be dearly missed.

In addition to her husband Ralph, Shirley is survived by two children: Alan Eudy and Melissa Eudy Hoggard and husband Chad, all of Rockwell; two granddaughters, Amber and Autumn Hoggard; three brothers, Glenn Alan Hopkins and wife Vivian, Billy Hopkins and wife Wanda, and Mark Hopkins and wife Bumper; two very special pets, "Peanut" and "Weasel"; one aunt; one uncle; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, December 15, 2016 from 6-8 pm at Powles Staton Funeral Home in Rockwell.

A service will be held on Friday, December 16, 2016 at 3 pm at St. Stephen's Lutheran Church in Gold Hill with Rev. Eddie Pless and Rev. Dale Norris officiating. Burial will follow the service in the church cemetery.

Memorials may be made to St. Stephen's Lutheran Church Memorial Fund.
