Sylvia E. Ferree Cox, age 77, died Tuesday, September 22, 2015.

Mrs. Cox was born March 12, 1938 in Asheboro. She attended Asheboro High School where she was a majorette. Mrs. Cox married Calvin Donald Cox on October 23, 1954.

She followed her Air Force husband to Denver; Salina and Topeka, KS; Aguadilla, PR; Sioux St. Marie, MI and Asheboro while Don was in Vietnam. They then lived in Ft. Walton Beach, FL; Wieshaden, Germany; Austin and Fort Worth, TX; and finally back to Randleman.

Sylvia was a Master Jeweler and with her husband Don, operated The Wooden Indian Jewelry store in Ft. Worth and Cox Custom Jewelers in Randleman for 38 years.

Sylvia was active in Brower's Methodist Women's and Republican Women of Randolph County. She was a master quilter, seamstress, gardener, canner, furniture refinisher and brilliant, creative problem solver.

Her daughters are Donna Jernigan and Floyd of Waco, TX and Lynda Ruggiero and Richard of Randleman. One of eight, Sylvia is survived by sisters, Mary Louise Sayland of Asheboro and Carolyn Curton of Ft. Worth; grandchildren, Finity Jernigan of Denver; Calvin Ruggiero of Randleman; Amy Jernigan of Waco; Daniel Jernigan of Ft. Worth and great grandchild, Kirra Porter of Waco.

Sylvia loved and served her extended family and over the years she cared for, encouraged and inspired everyone. We cannot count the people whose lives she has forever impacted for good.
