James Lyerly

James E. Lyerly, 83, of Salisbury, passed away Friday, December 22, 2023 at his home in Salisbury.

He was born November 23, 1940 to the late J Edgar and Clara Simmons Lyerly. He owned his own contracting business and was a Masonry teacher at East Rowan High School. Mr. Lyerly was a lifelong member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, active member of Keller Memorial Lodge #657 in Rockwell, and Rowan Shrine Club.

James enjoyed fishing, going to Morehead City, Atlantic Beach and spending time with his family at their lake home on High Rock Lake.

James is survived by his loving wife Barbara Trexler Lyerly of 63 years; daughter, Jamie Lyerly; son, Jim "Short" Lyerly and wife Jill; grandson, Graham Lyerly; granddaughter, Haley Lyerly; two sisters, Linda Lambirth and husband Bobby, Helen Hoffner and aunt, Margaret Alsobrooks.

The family will greet friends and relatives on Friday, December 29, 2023, 10:00 am - 11:00 am at St. Peter's Lutheran Church.

The memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, December 29, 2023, in the St. Peter's Lutheran Church with Rev. Sue Lynn White, officiating.

Inurnment will follow the service in the St. Peter's Lutheran Church Columbarium with Masonic Rites provided by the Keller Memorial Lodge.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Peters Lutheran Church, 2570 St Peters Church Rd.
