Velma Willard Brown

Velma Willard Brown, 90, of Spartanburg, S.C., died Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2018, at Lakewood Senior Living. Born June 2, 1928, in Winston-Salem, she was the daughter of the late Jay Marvin and Margrette Belle Tucker Willard and wife of the late George William “Bill” Brown.

Mrs. Brown worked as a sales clerk at Sears, Roebuck and Company and was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church where she was in the Ladies' Circle group and taught Sunday school.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a sister, Vonda Ray; and brothers, Zeno Willard, Odell Willard, Darrell Willard and Elbert Willard.

Survivors include her children, Stewart Deane Brown of Spartanburg, S.C., William Grant Brown (Sandra) of Woodruff, S.C., Cynthia Brown Overcash (Edward) of Spartanburg, S.C. and Bunny Brown McKown of Chesnee, S.C.; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Service & Visitation: A memorial service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 18, 2018 at Lakewood Senior Living, Boiling Springs, SC, by the Rev. Julie Schaaf. The family will receive friends prior to the service. Burial will be at 3 p.m. in Grace Lower Stone Church Cemetery, Rockwell, NC.

Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Covenant Presbyterian Church, Spartanburg, SC.
