Notes for Mary Helen Brown
Mary Helen Brown Earnhardt

Mrs. Mary Helen Brown Earnhardt, 80, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 10th, surrounded by her loving family.

Helen grew up in Rockwell, NC where she met the love of her life, Harold Earnhardt.  She graduated from Rockwell School and attended Pfeiffer College.  She and Harold were married in 1953.  They moved all over the country during his years in active duty in the Air Force.  53 years ago, they built their home in Rockwell where they raised their family and enjoyed spending time with their extended family and friends. Helen was a very devoted wife and mother who volunteered with the PTA, the Girl Scouts,  and Ursinus United Church of Christ.

One of Helen's greatest gifts was her musical ability.  She sang in the church choir from the age of 13 until her death. She was an active member of the Rowan Choral Society for nearly 50 years.  Many people have said that hearing her sing "O Holy Night" was the highlight of their Christmas.  Her peaceful, loving spirit will be missed by all who knew her.

Helen was predeceased by her parents R.W. and Mary Brown, her brother Ray Brown, and her son-in-law Robert McKinney.

Survivors include her husband, Harold and her children Mark and wife Karen, Cristy McKinney, and Leslie Heidrick and husband Jon, her granddaughter, Jessica Earnhardt, and her brother, Bill Brown and wife Velma and sister-in-law, Mary Brown and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 13th at 2pm with visitation from 1  - 2 pm at Ursinus United Church of Christ, Rockwell, NC.

Visitation with the family will be at Powles Funeral Home on Tuesday, June 12th from 6 - 8 pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Ray W. Brown Scholarship Fund at Ursinus United Church of Christ, Rockwell, NC.

Powles Funeral Home of Rockwell is assisting the Earnhardt family.
