Helen Castor Overcash

Mrs. Helen Castor Overcash, 91, of Salisbury, passed away Wednesday, February 25, 2015. She was born July 31, 1923, in Rowan County, NC to the late Henry and Anna Basinger Castor.

A graduate of China Grove High School, Mrs. Overcash was a member of Organ Lutheran Church and retiree of Celeanse Corporation.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Walter "Howard" Overcash, who passed away June 7, 2013 and brother Lester Castor and sister Margaret Funderburk.

She is survived by Melody Graham and husband, Barry, of Conover, Marla Young and husband, Keith, of Winston-Salem; grandchildren, Laura Stone and husband, Jason, of Raleigh, Melissa Thomas and husband, Zach, of Winston-Salem and Michael Smith of Winston-Salem and great grandchildren Emma Thomas and Ruth Ann Stone. And also by brothers Clarence Castor and sisters Kathleen Fesperman and Sylvia Shue.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 28th 2015 at Organ Lutheran Church in the Sanctuary from 3:00 PM until 4:00 PM.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 28th at 4:00 PM at Organ Lutheran Church, conducted by Rev. Carlin Ours, pastor.

Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

A special thank you for her caregiver of over one and a half years, Cherry Funderburk and Dale Funderburk (nephew), Rowan Hospice and Palliative Care, especially her nurse, Angie Harrison, Organ Lutheran Church Congregation, family and friends.

Memorials may be made to Rowan Hospice and Palliative Care, and Organ Lutheran Church.
