Notes for Wallace Lyerly Peeler
Wallace Lyerly Peeler

Wallace Lyerly Peeler, 91, of Alexandria, entered eternal rest on Friday, May 19, 2017 in the Christus St. Francis Cabrini Hospital of Alexandria with his loving family by his side. He was born March 14, 1926 in Granite Quarry, to the union of Carl Banks Peeler and Pearl Lyerly Peeler. He served his country proudly in the United States Navy during World War II. For 50 years, he was a member of the American Legion.

Wallace was a tax supervisor for Rowan County for 30+ years. He was a Pentecostal by faith and member of the Pentecostals of Alexandria, serving as an usher for 17 years. Equally as important to him was his family, Wallace was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, and friend. He was a great man!

He is preceded in death by his parents; daughter-in-law, Becky Peeler; son-in-law, Larry Spivey; grandchild, Judith Smith; one sister, Virginia Carter; two brothers, Carl Banks Peeler, Jr. and Billy Rufus Peeler.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are: his loving wife of 35 years, Stella Peeler of Alexandria; his children, Pam Spivey of Poquoson, Va., Kelly Peeler of Salisbury, Terry Peeler of Baton Rouge, La., Charles (Joan) Rasberry of Pineville, Tommy (Brenda) Rasberry of Jennings, Frankie (Tammy) Rasberry of Alexandria, and Carolyn (Scott) Smith of Columbus, S.C.; twenty-two grandchildren; and fourteen great grandchildren. Those who were privileged and honored to call him friend will treasure the memory of every moment shared with him. Pallbearers to serve will be the Pentecostals of Alexandria's usher board.

Visitation and Service: Visitation will be held in the Sanctuary of the Pentecostals of Alexandria on Monday, May 22, 2017 from 10:30 a.m. until time of service at 12 noon. The homegoing service for Wallace Lyerly Peeler will be held at 12 noon, Monday, May 22, 2017 in the Sanctuary of the Pentecostals of Alexandria with Reverend Scott Smith and Sister Vesta Mangun officiating. Military rites will be conducted by the United States Navy Honor Guard. Committal service will follow in the Forest Lawn Memorial Park under the direction of White Oaks Funeral Home, Alexandria.
