Virginia 'Ginnie' Shelton Kluttz
ROCKWELL - Mrs. Virginia "Ginnie" Shelton Kluttz, 93, of Rockwell, passed away Saturday, March 14, 2015, at Novant Health Rowan Medical Center in Salisbury.
She was born June 15, 1921, in Surry County, to the late Wilford Shelton and Hussie Joyce Shelton Jackson.
Mrs. Kluttz was educated at Park School and Rockwell High School. She retired from LaGuna Sportswear in 1987, where she was an inspector. She was the contract cleaner for the Faith Post Office for 22 years. A member of Rock Grove United Methodist Church, Mrs. Kluttz served on the church's finance committee and was a member of the Women's Circle Group. She never missed a Sunday service unless sick or out of town.
She loved her family, her church family and everyone else too. Mrs. Kluttz liked to go eat at Johnny's in Rockwell every Tuesday. She loved Cheerwine and drank at least one per day, everyday, at lunch. She probably attributed that to her long life.
Mrs. Kluttz was always willing to go places, meet new people and participate up until the day before she died. She was so thoughtful and considerate of other people, so humble and thankful for everything.
She loved to laugh, had a great sense of humor and would laugh at herself.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Kluttz was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Jack Kluttz, who passed away July 19, 2008; and son, Jerry Eugene Kluttz, who passed away May 1957.
She is survived by two sons, Gary Wayne Kluttz and wife Doris of Rockwell and Terry Dale Kluttz and wife Frances of Pleasant Garden; daughter, Denise Kluttz Koontz and husband Lynn of Rockwell; brother, J.D. Jackson of Faith; sister, Dorothy Slate of Mt. Airy; five grandchildren, Luke Livengood, Staci Cook, Jessi Fauber, Lisa Huneycutt and Teresa Murray; six great-grandchildren; and seven great-great grandchildren.
Visitation:The family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 17, 2015 from 6-7:30 p.m. at Powles Funeral Home in Rockwell and at other times, at the home of her daughter, Denise Koontz.
Service:The funeral service will be held at Rock Grove United Methodist Church on Wednesday, March 18, 2015 at 11 a.m., conducted by Rev. Randy Lucas, pastor. Mrs. Kluttz will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Memorials:Memorials may be made to Rock Grove United Methodist Church.
