ROCKWELL - Jack Kluttz, 86, of Rockwell passed away on Saturday July 19, 2008.

Mr. Kluttz was born on February 2, 1922, in Rowan County, a son of the late Walter M. and Rosie Earnhardt Kluttz. He was a Veteran, having served in the U.S. Army during WWII. Mr. Kluttz attended Crescent School, and retired from Cannon Mills Plant # 1 in 1984.

He was a long time member of Rock Grove United Methodist Church and enjoyed gardening, and sharing his vegetables with his friends and neighbors. Mr. Kluttz also enjoyed farming, raising his cows, fishing, and going on walks in his overalls and bare footed. He was affectionately known by his friends as "Barefoot Jack."

In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by a son, Jerry Eugene Kluttz; two brothers, Max Kluttz and Hal Brown Kluttz; and a sister, Cleo Fern Ward.

Survivors include his wife Mrs. Virginia "Ginnie" Shelton Kluttz, whom he married on March 1, 1941; sons, Gary Wayne Kluttz and wife Doris of Rockwell, and Terry Dale Kluttz and wife Frances of Pleasant Garden; a daughter, Denise Livengood Fauber of Rockwell; brothers, Leo Vern "Big Boy" Kluttz, and George Wiley Kluttz both of Rockwell; sisters, Mary Helen Shive, and Virginia Sifford, and Peggy Bost, all of Salisbury, and Jo Eagle of Rockwell; six grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and four great great grandchildren.

Service: The funeral service will be 4 p.m. Monday July 21, 2008, at the Rock Grove United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Randy Lucas, Pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Visitation: The family will receive friends 4-6 p.m. Sunday, July 20, 2008, at the Powles Funeral Home, and at the home of Mrs. Virginia Kluttz the remainder of the time.

Memorials: Rock Grove United Methodist Church Memorial Fund.
