Thursday, July 19, 2007 — Johnny Andrew McIlwaine, 74, of 24770 Snickers Lane, Albemarle, died early Tuesday morning, July 17, 2007 at his home. A funeral service will be in Canton Baptist Church at 4 p.m. Thursday with Rev. Mark Mabry and Rev. Ferrell Shimpock officiating. Inter-ment will be in Canton Baptist Church Cemetery. Graveside military honors will be conducted by Stanly County DAV Chapter 12. The family will receive friends after the service at the church. At other times the family will meet at the residence 24770 Snickers Lane, Albemarle. Born Sept. 8, 1932 in Stanly County, Mr. McIlwaine served in the Air Force during the Korean War. Mr. McIlwaine was a retired sales engineer in heavy truck sales with Ford Motor Company. He was preceded in death by his wife, Carrie Irene Eudy McIlwaine; his father, Andrew McIlwaine; his mother, Sudie Hinson McIlwaine; and his sister, Sarah Douglas Hatley. He is survived by his three sons, Danny Andrew McIlwaine and wife Leah of Albemarle, Larry John McIlwaine and wife Kim of Albemarle and Gary John McIlwaine and wife Tammi of Oakboro; his daughter, Regina McIlwaine Barbee and husband Rod of Albemarle; his sister, Betty Cagle of Hartsville, S.C.; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Memorials may be sent to Hospice of Stanly County.
