Robert Spencer Wagoner

Robert Spencer Wagoner, 83, of Misenheimer died Thursday, May 5, at Stanly Regional Medical Center, Albemarle.

He was the son of the late David Edd Wagoner and Eva Marie Frick Wagoner.

A 1941 graduate of Richfield High School, Rockwell, he retired from Republic Foil. He was previously a truck driver for Charlie Helderman and Earnhardt Lumber Company; worked for Stanley County Waste Management, and was an instructor with the Charlotte Truck Driving School.

A U.S. Navy veteran, he was in Tokyo Bay during the signing of the treaty ending World War II. He was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church and the Arthur Shipton Sunday school class. He was also a charter member of the Misenheimer Lions Club, and the Miller-Russell American Legion Post No. 112 in Rockwell.

He was the husband of Sarah Beaver Wagoner whom he married on March 14, 1952.

He is also survived by his brothers, Earl and Norman Wagoner, both of Salisbury; sisters, Pauline W. Lauchman, Rachel W. Shoaf, Ethel W. Stancil, and Brenda W. Taylor; a niece, Millie Barringer; other nieces and nephews.

Interment, with full military rites provided by the Rowan County Veterans Council, followed funeral services conducted at the Immanuel Luther Church; Rev. Bruce Sheeks, presided.
