Jo Hoffman Ford

Jo Hoffman Ford, 72, of Salisbury passed away on Thursday, January 9, 2014 at Trinity Oaks. Jo was born on January 28, 1941 in Rowan County, a daughter of the late Emmauel Calvin and Myrtle Stoner Hoffman.

Jo is a 1956 graduate of Rockwell High School, a 1960 Graduate of Lenoir Rhyne College and a 1969 graduate of Conservatory of Music in Cincinnati, Ohio. Jo taught music to all ages in Cincinnati and Reading, Ohio. In writing and directing many plays, she touched many lives with her music. In several churches there she served as organist and choir director.

Jo was a member of a Sweet Adeline award winning quartet. As regional winners this quartet was invited to sing at The Royal Albert Hall in England.

In 1994 Jo and her husband Charles moved back to Rowan County, they became members of St. James Lutheran Church where Jo again served as Organist.

Jo along with her husband Charles were members of the International Model "T" Club, they traveled all over the United States driving their Model T's.

In addition to her parents, Jo is preceded in death by her husband of over 38 years, Charles Allison Ford who passed away on December 24, 2013, a brother, Kenneth Hoffman, and a sister, Betty Hoffman Arey.

Survivors: Those left to cherish her memory are: her step-daughters, Donna Werntz and husband Carl of Morgantown, WV and Karen Christina Ford of Buffalo, NY, and granddaughter, Shannon Ford Werntz. Others include many loving nieces, nephews, friends and Smokey her beloved cat.

The Funeral Service will be held on Monday January 13, 2014 at 2:00pm at St. James Lutheran Church, conducted by Rev. David Martin, Interim Pastor and Rev. Ed Harper.

The family will receive friends at St. James Lutheran Church on Monday January 13, 2014 from 12:30 to 1:45.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to: Ford Music Scholarship Fund, St. James Lutheran Church, PO Box 486, Rockwell NC 28138; to the Ford Music Scholarship Fund at Lenoir-Rhyne University, PO Box 7227, Hickory NC 28603.
