Tuesday, August 28, 2012 — Katherine Harmon Whitley Bennett, age 65, of Albemarle, passed away on Friday, August 24, 2012, at Stanly Regional Medical Center.

The family will receive friends at Hartsell Funeral Home of Albemarle on Tuesday, August 28 from 6-8 p.m.

The funeral service will be held at First Baptist Church, Albemarle on Wednesday, August 29, at 11 a.m., officiated by Rev. Harold McDonald.

The family will also receive friends on Thursday, August 30 at Spring Hill Memorial Funeral Home, Spring Hill, Tenn. from 4-8 p.m. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, August 31 at Hargrove Family Cemetery, Kedron Road, Spring Hill, Tenn., officiated by Darrell Trimble.

At other times, the family will meet at her home, 900 Larkhaven Lane, Albemarle.  

Mrs. Bennett was born in Maury County, Tennessee on October 5, 1946, to the late Charles Emery Harmon and the late Ora Estella Hargrove Harmon. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, James Carrol “Jack” Whitley in 2005.

She is survived by her husband, Donald Leon Bennett of Albemarle; one brother, Edward Harmon and his wife Barbara of Spring Hill, Tenn.; two sisters, Glenna Bradley and her husband Dwain and Alpha Dean Baker and her husband Steve, all of Spring Hill, Tenn.; and several nieces and nephews.  

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, 202 N. Second St., Albemarle, NC 28001.
