Glenna 'Byrd' Ludwig
FAITH - Glenna "Byrd" McCombs Ludwig, 80, of Faith, died Monday, Nov. 13, 2006, at Rowan Regional Medical Center in Salisbury.
Mrs. Ludwig was born Sept. 27, 1926, to the late John Clyde and Edna Mae Byrd McCombs. A 1943 graduate of Granite Quarry High School. During World War II, she worked as a keypunch operator and verifier for the Social Security Administration in Baltimore, Md. She worked for the U.S. Post Office in Faith before working in the billing department of Stanback Company for 37 years, retiring in April 1989.
A member of Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church, Mrs. Ludwig served as an offering counter and was a member of the Fisher-Morgan Ladies Circle.
She is survived by her husband, Bryce Elon Ludwig, whom she married June 7, 1946; son Stan Ludwig and wife Donna of Concord; daughter Connie Ludwig Troutman of Richmond, Va.; sister Frances Crossett and husband Bill of Salisbury; brothers Lane McCombs and Gerald McCombs and wife Janie of Pasadena, Md.; and grandchildren Shelly and Julie Ludwig.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by grandson Shaun Ludwig on Dec. 8, 2004.
Service: The Funeral Service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church with the Rev. Loyd Ginn, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Visitation: At Faith Lutheran Church Family Life Center tonight from 7-8:30.
