Clarene Harwood Fink

FAITH - Mrs. Clarene Harwood Fink, 84, of Faith, entered the church triumphant on Monday, Feb. 11, 2013, at Rowan Regional Medical Center, Salisbury.

Clarene was born Feb. 27, 1928, in Rowan County, the daughter of the late Roy Lee Harwood and Hettie Mae Barringer Harwood.

A 1945 graduate of Rockwell High School, Clarene was a member of Faith Lutheran Church for more than 67 years. In previous years, she served on the church council, sang in the choir, chaired the Altar Guild, and served as President of Lutheran Church Women. She was a national delegate to the Lutheran Brotherhood annual meeting, a delegate many times to the N.C. Synodical Women's Conventions and a member of the Advisory Council for the Lutheran Home of Salisbury. Clarene retired from Farmers & Merchants Bank in 1993. More recently, she and her husband delivered Meals on Wheels, visited shut-ins and made deliveries for the tape ministry of the church. Clarene enjoyed baking cookies for family and friends, reading, needlework, flower gardening, cooking and providing love and care for her family.

In addition to her parents, Clarene was preceded in death by her brothers, Claude Harwood and Robert Harwood; and sister Ruth H. Jackson.

Survivors include her husband, Worth Fink, who she married June 27, 1945, and to whom she was a devoted wife for 67 years; sons Rev. Ronald W. Fink and wife Swannetta of Cherryville, Rev. Kenneth Fink and wife Vicki of Monroe; grandchildren Susan Fink Shell and husband Scott of Cary, John C. Fink of Lincolnton, Matthew W. Fink and wife Adrienne of Cayce, S.C.; and great-grandchild Maxwell Shell of Cary.

Visitation: 5-7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 14 at the Family Life Center of Faith Lutheran Church.

Funeral Service: 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 15, at Faith Lutheran Church, conducted by Rev. Randy Conley, pastor. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery.

Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Faith Lutheran Church, Debt Reduction Fund, or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
