Hazel Marie Barrier Almond
Hazel Marie Barrier Almond, 82, of Midland, NC, passed away Monday March 18, 2019. Her graveside service will be 2 PM Thursday March 21, 2019 at Matton’s Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery with Rev. Martha McDowell officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:15 PM until 2:00 PM at the graveside.
Hazel was born August 4, 1936 in Richfield, NC and was the daughter of the late Earl Fritch Barrier and Zora Belle Poplin Barrier. Mrs. Almond worked with Eckerd Drug Store and part time with Cabarrus County School System working in Bethel Elementary School. She was a member of Matton’s Grove United Methodist Church and she truly enjoyed being with her family.
Mrs. Almond was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Lee Almond on March 9, 2012. She is survived by three sons, Terry Almond and wife Shirley of Midland, NC, Darrell Almond and husband Leonardo of Midland, NC and Darin “Pee Wee” Almond and wife Tina of Norwood, NC; daughter Wanda Whited and husband Jerry of Midland, NC; two brothers Hoyle Barrier of Richfield, NC and Caleb Barrier of Albemarle, NC; three sisters Vandora Furr of Albemarle, NC, Earline Burris of Mt. Gilead, NC and Louise Efird of Albemarle; nine grandchildren; twenty seven great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Hazel was also preceded in death by a daughter Tammy Almond on February 14, 2015 and a sister Elizabeth Barrier.
Memorials may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care of Cabarrus County, or Stanly Funeral and Cremation Care of Albemarle to assist with funeral expenses.
