MOUNT ULLA - Melvin Conley Shook, 86, of Bear Poplar Road, died Saturday, Feb. 4, 2006, at Rowan Regional Medical Center in Salisbury. 

Mr. Shook was born Aug. 27, 1919, in Rowan County, the son of the late Grover Cleveland and Ida Edison Shook. 

A graduate of Mount Ulla High School, he retired from Steele Feed and Seed and was a dairy farmer and an avid gardener and fisherman. 

A member of St. Luke 's Lutheran Church, Mr. Shook had served on the church council. 

He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Corriher Shook, on Nov. 19, 2000. 

Survivors include daughter Bonnie S. Myers and husband Joe of Cleveland; son Bobby C. Shook of Mansfield, Ohio; grandchildren Hali Parsons and Angela Boyd of Mansfield, Ohio, Conley Myers of New Canaan, Conn., and Darcy Myers of Mount Ulla; great-grandchildren Kristen, Travis and Nicole Boyd, Elizabeth and Lucas Parsons and Parkston and Evanston Myers; and Mr. Shook 's special caregiver, Mary Chaffin. 

Services: Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Luke 's Lutheran Church with the Rev. Mary Louise Sitton, minister, officiating. Interment will follow at St. Luke's Lutheran Church Cemetery. 

Visitation: The family will receive friends at Summersett Funeral Home from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday; and at other times, the family will be at the home on Bear Poplar Road.
