Notes for Connie Irene Wagoner
Connie Irene Wagoner Carter

Mrs. Carter, 82, of Charlotte passed peacefully in her home on September 23, 2005, surrounded by her loving family and her caregiver.

Connie began her life in Gold Hill, NC. After her marriage to the late William Howard Carter in June of 1948, she and her husband decided to settle in and raise their family in Charlotte. After years of staying home and being a Mom, she decided to return to work and began a career in photo finishing. She held various positions from retouching, airbrushing and oil coloring photographs. In her early fifties, she decided to follow her passion for flowers and began working in various florists. She eventually earned the title of floral designer, and worked for Harrisburg Florist for the next 12 years. She retired in 1993 at the age of 70.

She and her husband, who passed in April of this year, were members of the United Wesleyan Church for 47 years. She taught Sunday school classes and ultimately kept the vestibule flowing with flowers, most of which were grown in her own garden.

She loved life. She loved to cook and entertain. She had small, helpful hands and a huge heart. When you came to visit her, you couldn't leave without her sharing something with you. Something she had grown, sewn or created on her own.

Connie was a devoted wife, loving mother and her daughter's best friend. Her greatest devotion was to her savior, Jesus Christ. Those who knew Connie experienced the reality of Christ's love through her life. Her family finds great peace and consolation in knowing that she is now in the presence of the Lord and with her husband, Howard. She will be truly missed by all who knew her.

Her memories and inspiration will forever be engraved in the hearts of her reaming family, sons, Mr. Howard Mark Carter, Mr. William Dudley Carter and his wife, Andrea, and daughter, Mrs. Angela Carter Neel and husband, Jerry.

Visitation for her friends will be held in Charlotte at the McEwen Funeral Home, Derita Chapel, 6300 Mallard Creek Road, on Monday, September 26, 2005 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A funeral service for Mrs. Carter will be held on Tuesday at the United Wesleyan Church, 2601 Rocky River Road, at 1:00 PM, with the Reverend Tim Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn West.

Arrangements by McEwen Funeral Service, Derita Chapel.
