SALISBURY - Oswald Denham Holshouser, 84, of Salisbury, died Sunday, February 10, 2008, at Genesis Eldercare of Salisbury.

Born September 1, 1923, in Salisbury, Mr. Holshouser was the son of the late Columbus Lee and Nellie Lassiter Holshouser. Educated in the Salisbury schools, he graduated from Boyden High School. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served during World War II and received the Combat Infantry Badge and Purple Heart.

Mr. Holshouser was co-owner and Pharmacist at Main Drug Company until he retired in 1980.

A very active member of Second Presbyterian Church, he served as Treasurer for over 20 years and was a member of the church choir. He also volunteered with Meals on Wheels and was a member of American Legion.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Beryl Ray Holshouser, on August 18, 2006, and siblings Frederick C. Holshouser, Hazel G. Mock and Wayne Z. Holshouser.

Survivors include son Ozzie D. Holshouser, Jr. and fiancee Deborah Almond of Mooresville; daughters Kathy Susan Holshouser Miller and husband Larry of Midland and Rebecca Anne Mason of Charlottesville, Va.; niece Nancy Gwendolyn Holshouser Moore and husband Greg of Salisbury; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Service: A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at Second Presbyterian Church with Rev. Dr. Roger C. Mackey officiating. Interment will follow at Rowan Memorial Park.

Visitation: The family will receive friends at Summersett Funeral Home from 6-8 p.m. Friday.
