Leith Chamberlain Foster, Jr, 83, of Salisbury died September 20, 2008 at the Veterans Administration Nursing Home in Salisbury.
Mr. Foster was born April 14, 1925 in Rowan County, son of the late Leith Chamberlain Foster and Troy Michael Foster. He graduated Boyden High School in 1942 and was a Catawba Business School graduate. Mr. Foster retired as the manager of REA Express. He was a member of Forest Hills Baptist Church of Wilson, NC and attended Dunn's Mountain Baptist Church, he was active in the American Legion, VFW, Evening Optimist Club, the Exchange Club and volunteered at VA Hospital.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Foster is preceded in death by his first wife Zelma Kluttz Foster, son Gerald Foster, step-son Mike Valley, sisters Helen Nesbit and Colleen Roberson.
He is survived by his wife Ethel Valley Foster of Salisbury, son Michael Foster of Wilson, NC, daughter Sandra Bissette and husband Kenneth of Rocky Mount, NC, Melda Walston and husband Bob of Wilson, NC, step-children Ron Valley and wife Diane of Salisbury, Jimmy Valley of Linwood, Linda Beason and husband AJ of Lexington, NC and 6 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
