Jimmy Lee "Jim" Hoffner

Jimmy Lee "Jim" Hoffner, 82, of Rockwell passed away Monday, October 5, 2015 at his residence. Jim was born on June 18, 1933 in Rowan County son of the late Victor Lesley Hoffner and Gaither Stoner Hoffner.

Mr. Hoffner was a veteran having served in the US Army during the Korean War. He was a 1957 graduate of Rockwell High School, had worked for Duke Power and was a Saw Mill Operator and Owner. He was a member of Organ Lutheran Church where he had served on the Church Council, he was a member of Keller Memorial masonic Lodge # 657, Rowan County Shriner s Club, Spencer Moose Lodge, Rockwell Amvets Post # 845, Vanhoy Sells VFW Post 9134 and Miller Russell American Legion Post # 112.

Jim enjoyed spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife, Helen Lyerly Hoffner who he married on June 8, 1958; son, Jay Hoffner of Richfield; daughters, Starla Summer and husband, Neal of Cornelius and Tonya Jonkheen of Wilmington and friend Andrew Silbereish and son Kyle; grandchildren, Kayla Summer, Kyle Summer, Justin Hoffner, Hannah Jonkheer, and Sarah Jonkheer; Step granddaughter, Jennifer Miller; Sister, Doris Holloway and sister-in-law, Jean Hoffner of Rockwell; sister-in-law, Linda Lambert and husband Bobby of Salisbury; brother-in-law, Jimmy Lyerly and wife Barbara of Salisbury.

Visitation: The family will receive friends from 2:30 to 3:45 PM Wednesday, October 7, 2015, at Organ Lutheran Church.

Service: Funeral Services will be conducted at 4:00 PM Wednesday at Organ Lutheran Church by Rev. Carlin Ours, pastor. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Military Graveside Rites by the Rowan County Honor Guard and the NC National Guard.

In lieu of flowers memorial may be made to Organ Lutheran Church, 1515 Organ Church Road, Salisbury, NC 28146.
