MT. PLEASANT Mr. Larry Eugene Lambert, 69, of Short Street, Mt. Pleasant, died Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2011, at his residence. Funeral services will be held today, Friday, Oct. 21, at 2 p.m. at Gordon Funeral Home, officiated by the Revs. Rick Durham and Robert Howard. Burial will follow at Cabarrus Memorial Gardens. The Lambert family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday evening, Oct. 20, at Gordon Funeral Home of Mt. Pleasant.
Mr. Lambert was born May 7, 1942, in Cabarrus county, son of the late Richard E. Lambert and Rachel Rowland Lambert. He worked for the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) and the Concrete Supply Company. He enjoyed coaching baseball and auto racing.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Burris Lambert, who died July 1, 2011.
He is survived by a son, Brent Lambert and his wife, Kim, of Mt. Pleasant; his daughters, Brenda Starr Kimrey and her husband, Dale, of Norwood, and Lisa Lambert Arazie, of Mt. Pleasant; his brothers, Jerry Lambert and his wife, Barbara, and Reggie Lambert and his wife, Shelia, both of Mt. Pleasant; six grandchildren and two great- grandchildren.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Hospice and Palliative Care of Cabarrus County for the care during Larry's declining health, especially Tabitha, Melissa, Jennifer and Rick Durham.
