SALISBURY - Rev. John William "Bill" Hoyle, III, 78, of Salisbury, died Thursday, May 18, 2006, at the Hospice & Palliative Care of Cabarrus County.

Rev. Hoyle was born June 23, 1927, in Guilford County, son of the late John William Hoyle, Jr. and Lucille Womble Hoyle. He is a graduate of High Point University, Duke University, and received his Masters Degree in Divinity at Emory University.

Rev. Hoyle was ordained as a Deacon in 1951 and ordained as a Elder in 1953. The Churches Rev. Hoyle ministered are as follows: Mt. Harmony in Hildebran 1951-1953, Westview in Hickory 1953-1955 , in Farmington 1955-1956 , at Fairview in Pinewoods 1957-1960 , Shiloh United Methodist Church in Granite Quarry 1960-1963 , at Ann St. and Bogers Chapel United Methodist Church in Concord 1990-1992 , and at Shiloh United Methodist Church in Granite Quarry 2001-2002 . He was a former member of the Granite Quarry Civitan Club.

Survivors include his wife Mrs. Norma Williams Shaver Hoyle, who he married May 18, 1991; 6 daughters Lucy Ann Sency of Salisbury, Margaret McKenzie and husband Ken, Cynthia Yost of Granite Quarry, Betty Rudo and husband Kenny of Chapel Hill, Karen Whicker and husband Charles of Thomasville, and Gina Tucker of Vale, Colorado; 16 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren.

Service: A memorial service will be held 3 p.m. Sunday at Shiloh United Methodist Church, Granite Quarry by Rev. Jonathan Marlowe, Pastor.

Visitation: The family will receive friends after the memorial service in the Fellowship Hall.

Memorials: The Family requests no flowers. Memorials may be made to Shiloh United Methodist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 315, Granite Quarry NC 28072.
