ALBEMARLE — Herman Lambert, 76, 24542 Endy Road, died Monday (Jan. 17, 2000) at Britthaven of Piedmont Nursing Center.

Born June 20, 1923, in Stanly County, Mr. Lambert was a son of the late Fetzer and Lilly Lowder Lambert. Retired from Wiscassett Mill Co., he was a member of Canton Baptist Church, VFW and Endy Optimist Club. He served aboard the USS Bunker Hill while in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

Survivors include wife Arlene Tucker Lambert; son Frank Lambert, New London; daughter Brenda Lambert Baker, Albemarle; brother Grover Lambert, Albemarle; sisters Ruth Dick, Bertha Cagle and Mildred Barbee, all of Albemarle, and Victoria McLendon, Fayetteville; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Services: 2 p.m. Wednesday, Canton Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Les Schofield. The body will be placed in the church at 1:30. Burial, church cemetery. Military rites by Stanly County DAV Ritual Team.

Visitation: 6-8 p.m.Tuesday, Stanly Funeral Home.

Memorials: American Diabetes Association.
