Alice Shepherd

SALISBURY - Alice Hodge Shepherd, 85, of Salisbury, passed away Monday, March 30, 2015, at Autumn Care of Salisbury.

She was born Feb. 20, 1930, in Rowan County, a daughter of the late Joe Hodge and Rosa Elizabeth Starnes Hodge.

Mrs. Shepherd was a graduate of Rockwell High School and Pfeiffer College. She had worked as an X-ray Technician in Mooresville and also at Dr. Richard Wright's office in Salisbury.

A lifelong member of St. Matthews Lutheran Church, Mrs. Shepherd taught Confirmation Classes for more than 30 years. She enjoyed sewing, reading, knitting, gardening and loved taking care of her children and grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Earlie McCoy Shepherd; and brother Harold Hodge.

Survivors include daughters Clara McKenzie and husband Keith of Lexington, Hazel Shepherd of Chapel Hill and Earlene Brown and husband Stephen of Salisbury; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Services: Graveside Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Matthews Lutheran Church Cemetery. A Memorial Service will follow at 11 a.m. in the Church conducted by Rev. Gary Coble, pastor.

Memorials: May be made to St. Matthews Lutheran Church, Scholarship Fund.
