Harold Jack Hand

Harold Jack Hand, 73, Salisbury, died Tuesday (May 11, 2004) at Rowan Regional Medical Center.

Born June 7, 1930, in Colbert County, Ala., Mr. Hand, a son of the late James Vindex and Bessie Lee Thompson Hand, was educated in the Rowan County schools. He was employed with CannonMills for 26 years and later retired from Frito-Lay after 17 years.

A member of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church and John's Sunday School class, he was Boy Scout commissioner and an honorary member of Rowan County Rescue Squad.

Survivors include wife Mary Frances Eagle Hand, whom he married Dec. 25, 1948; sons Harold Wayne, James David and Timothy Irvin Hand, all of Salisbury; brother Homer Hand, Salisbury; five grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two stepgreat-grandchildren.

Services:4 p.m. Friday, St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, conducted by the Rev. Gary S. Coble. The body will be placed in the church at 3:30. Burial, family plot in church cemetery.

Visitation: 7-8:30 tonight, Lyerly Funeral Home. At other times, the family will be at the home.
