Clyde Bruce Petrea

Clyde Bruce Petrea, 90, of Faith, passed away on Saturday, September 3, 2016 at Novant Health Rowan Medical Center after a short illness. Clyde the youngest of nine children, was born on November 4, 1925 in Rowan County to the late Luther and Cora Mae Taylor Petrea.

While not formally educated, Clyde accomplished much in his life. A World War II Veteran, he established and ran Faith Tire Center, and later Faith Auto Sales. Clyde then worked for O'Reilly Auto Parts delivering parts until he was 85 years old. While he was not able to complete his own education, he made sure that all of his children received a formal education.

Clyde was a member of Faith Baptist Church, he served as a Deacon, Choir Member and Sunday School director. He was a past president and life-long member of the Faith Civitan Club and was instrumental in the establishment of a Kindergarten class at Faith Elementary during his presidency. Clyde was also a member of the Faith American Legion Post 327.

In addition to his parents, Clyde is preceded in death by brothers, Frank, Glenn and Arthur Petrea; and sisters, Nora Petrea, Dorothy Wilkerson, Ruth Sipe, Ethel Sipe and Bertha Ketchie.

Clyde is survived by his wife of over 68 years, Ann Corn Petrea, who he married on August 15, 1948; his three children, Troy Petrea and wife Janice of Granite Quarry, Pam Frick and husband Mel of Pensacola, FL and Alison Shue and husband Tim of Faith; grandson, Ben Frick; granddaughters, Ginny Morefield, Erin Moore, Carrie Hachadurian, Hayley Shue, Emily Shue and Molly Shue; great grandchildren, Alex Moore, John Morefield, Lilly Moore, Adam Morefield and Parker Hachadurian.

Graveside Service: There will be a graveside service on Wednesday, September 7th at 10:00 am ath the Salisbury National Cemetery (Statesville Blvd Location) with military rites provided by the NC National Guard and the Rowan County Veterans Honor Guard.

Visitation: The family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 7th from 2:00 to 3:00 pm at Faith Baptist Church.

Service: There will be a Memorial Service on Wednesday, September 7th at 3:00 pm at Faith Baptist Church conducted by Rev. Chuck Brawley.

The family wishes to thank the staff at the NC State Veterans Home for their impeccable care.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Faith Baptist Church Building Fund PO Box 84 Faith NC, or Levine Children's Hospital 1000 Blythe Blvd Charlotte NC.
