Thursday, November 24, 2011 — Martha Laura Ellen Scott Lambert, age 81, of New London, died at 12:45 a.m. Tuesday, November 22, 2011 in Stanly Manor Nursing Center in Albemarle.

Her funeral will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday, November 23, 2011 at Poplins Grove Baptist Church, Albemarle. Rev. Richard Carlisle will officiate and burial will be in Poplins Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends after the service in the fellowship hall of Poplins Grove Baptist Church. The body will remain at the funeral home until taken to the church to lie in state 30 minutes prior to the hour of the service.

At other times the family will be at the home of a daughter, Wanda Brooks, 40573 Millingport Road, Richfield.

Born April 29, 1930 in Moore County, N.C., she was the daughter of the late Thomas Franklin Scott and Eula Rummage Scott Blake.

She was a retired employee of Wiscassett Mill Company and a member of Poplins Grove Baptist Church. She loved her family especially her grandchildren. She also enjoyed gardening and traveling.

Mrs. Lambert was married to the late Buford Elsworth Lambert, who preceded her in death July 15, 2011. Two brothers, John and Richard Scott, also preceded her in death.

Survivors include one son, Wayne Lambert of Bald Head Island, N.C.; two daughters, Wanda Brooks of Richfield and Linda Medlin of New London; two brothers, Jerry Scott of Norwood and Paul Scott of Albemarle; one sister, Pauline Hussery of Albemarle; seven grandchildren, Jenny Carrick, Laura Daugherty, Kim Shaver, Amanda Brooks, Kaleb Medlin, Kacey Medlin and Zack Medlin; seven great-grandchildren, Tanner, Avery and Hannah Carrick, Cate and Tyler Daugherty and Luke and Charlie Shaver.
