James William Adam Albright

James William Adam Albright, 87, of Salisbury, passed away Saturday, February 20, 2021, at Novant-Rowan Medical Center in Salisbury.  

He was born September 11, 1933, in China Grove, to the late Cecil and Eva Morgan Albright.  Mr. Albright was a 1951 graduate of China Grove High School and was employed at Cannon Mills Plant #1 until retirement. Following his retirement, he worked with Patterson Farms for 14 years. Mr. Albright was a longtime member of Thyatira Presbyterian Church, serving as a deacon and member of the church choir. He was also member of the Lions Club, Rockwell chapter. Most importantly, he was a loving husband, Dad, and Granddad to his family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Inez Morgan Albright, whom he married March 21, 1953; daughter, Phyllis A. Jones; and brothers, Frank Albright, Norman Albright, and Sidney Albright.

Mr. Albright is survived by his son, Tony William Albright and fiancée, Robin Rhyne, of Oak Island; granddaughter, Wendy Bernstein and husband, Darren, of Charleston, SC; grandsons, Tyler Albright of Los Angeles, CA and Adam Albright and wife, Allison of Lincolnton; and great-granddaughter, Norah Bernstein of Charleston, SC.

The family will greet friends and relatives from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, February 23rd at Powles Funeral Home in Rockwell.

The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 24th at Thyatira Presbyterian Church. Mr. Albright will lie in state in the church fellowship hall beginning at 12:00 Noon.

Burial will follow in Thyatira Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

A celebration of life will be held in the future for Jim and Ruth.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Jim and Ruth Albright Scholarship Fund that the family will establish.
