John A. Fraley

ROCKWELL - John A. Fraley, 87, of Rockwell, passed away Wednesday Aug. 27, 2014, at Novant Health Rowan Medical Center in Salisbury.

He was born on May 8, 1927, in Guilford County to the late John Adam Fraley and Mary Hall Fraley. John proudly served his country in the United States Army.

After his retirement from the Army, John worked for Fiber Industries in Salisbury as a supervisor. He was a member of St. James Lutheran Church in Rockwell and was a member of American Legion Post 112 in Rockwell.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Miller Fraley.

John is survived by two daughters, Karen Fraley Samples and husband Larry of Rockwell and Kathy Fraley Fisher and husband Rick of Winterville; three brothers, George Fraley of New Jersey, Billy Joe (Jake) of Richfield and Beauford Fraley (Hamp) of Richfield; a sister, Annie Lou Cox of Richfield; three grandchildren, Mark Samples and wife Cindy of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., Chris Samples and wife Kristi of Rockwell and Laura Fisher of Winterville; and two great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Connor Samples.

Arrangements: A Visitation will be held Sunday, Aug. 31 from 1:30 to 2:45 p.m. at Powles Funeral Home in Rockwell. A Graveside Service with Military Rites will follow the visitation at Brookhill Memorial Gardens in Rockwell, at 3 p.m. conducted by Pastor Charlie MacManus.

Veterans Funeral Care provider Powles Funeral Home of Rockwell is assisting the Fraley family.
