Don Dedmon

Robert Donald “Don” Dedmon, 91, of Salisbury, NC passed into the loving arms of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, December 24, 2023 at Novant Health Rowan Medical Center in Salisbury.

Born March 10, 1932 in Rowan County he was the son of the late Charlie Pleasants Dedmon and Leona Nelle Dedmon.

Mr. Dedmon was a graduate of Boyden High School. He earned a degree in business administration from Catawba College in 1954. Mr. Dedmon joined the circulation staff of the Salisbury Post while a sophomore at Catawba College. After graduating college he served in the US Army at Ft. Jackson for 2 years. Upon returning to Salisbury, Mr. Dedmon became the Director of Circulation and continued his career with the Salisbury Post for 42 years until retirement. After retirement from the Salisbury Post he joined the family business working at CF Parks Inc, continuing to work for another 16 years. He was a member of the Salisbury Civitan Club, the Salisbury-Rowan Planning Board for several years, and member of Christiana Lutheran Church in Granite Quarry for over 70 years where he taught Sunday school. He was also a member of multiple athletic clubs where he enjoyed working out.

Along with his parents, preceding him in death was his wife of 71 years (together for 73 years), Rose Honeycutt Dedmon. Don and Rose were each other’s best friends, devoted to a lifelong commitment to Christ and each other.

Also preceding are sisters, Mary Ruth Miller, Virginia Holzmacher, a step-brother and step-sisters.

Those left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Lynne Parks (Charles) of Huntersville, Leslie Cathey (Jim Scarboro) of Salisbury; grandchildren, Stephanie Duca (Dan) of Wayne, N.J., Catherine Kirchin (Zack) of Huntersville, Chuck Parks (Kathy) of Huntersville; great-grandchildren, Sterling Rose Kirchin and Liliana Grace Duca.

Visitation will be held from 1-2PM Saturday, December 30, 2023 at Christiana Lutheran Church, downstairs below the sanctuary. Memorial service will be at 2PM in the church sanctuary with Rev. Keith Less officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Christiana Lutheran Church.
