Thursday, August 24, 2006 — Katie Geneva Smith Lambert, 89, of 202 N. Central Ave., Locust, died at 6 p.m. Monday, Aug. 21, 2006, in the Lutheran Home in Albemarle.
Her funeral will be at 2 p.m. Thursday with a 30-minute state in Locust Baptist Church, where she was a member. The Rev. Dr. Kinney Wallace will officiate and burial will be in Running Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Locust.
Born July 22, 1917, in Stanly County, she was a daughter of the late Oswald Alexander O.A. and Nellie Floyd Smith and was a homemaker.
Two sons, Dewey Lambert and Coleman Dennis Lambert, and three brothers, Willis Smith, Lemuel Smith and Clinton Smith, preceded her in death.
She is survived by her husband, Roy Lee Lambert of the home; two daughters, Edith Lambert Hathcock of Oakboro and Ruby Lambert Brooks of Stanfield; two sisters, Christine Mullis of Stanfield and Ann Edwards of Oakboro; nine grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; a stepgrandchild and two stepgreat-grandchildren.
The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Hartsell Funeral Home of Midland. At other times they met at the home of a daughter, Ruby Lambert Brooks, 13481 Brooks Road, Stanfield.
