SALISBURY - James Alexander Basinger, 90, of Salisbury, died Thursday, May 4, 2006, at Rowan Regional Medical Center. Born Jan. 27, 1916, in Rowan County, Mr. Basinger was the son of the late A.A. Basinger and Mary Wilhelm Basinger. He was educated in Rowan County schools and was a life-member of Shiloh Reformed Church in Faith.

He had worked for and retired from the N.C. Department of Transportation as a supervisor. Survivors include wife Donna Kluttz Basinger, whom he married Sept. 26, 1936; brother Harry Basinger of Salisbury; sisters Elsie Nance of Rockwell, Rebecca Morrison of China Grove, Helen Tuggle of Kannapolis and Norma Basinger of Salisbury; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Service : Funeral Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Powles Funeral Home Chapel, Rockwell, conducted by the Rev. Wayne Trexler, interim pastor of Shiloh Reformed Church in Faith. Burial will be at Shiloh Reformed Church Cemetery.

Visitation : 4-6 p.m. today at Powles Funeral Home and at the residence the remainder of the time. Memorials : Memorials may be made to Shiloh Reformed Church, P.O. Box 308, Faith, NC 28041. Powles Funeral Home of Rockwell is serving the Basinger family.
