ROCKWELL - Mr. Leo "Bigboy" Kluttz, of Rockwell, 80, passed away Tuesday, July, 27, 2010, at his residence.

Bigboy was born Jan. 31, 1930, in Rowan County, the son of the late Walter "Pete" Kluttz and Rosa Earnhardt Kluttz.

Bigboy was educated in Rowan County schools, had worked for Cannon Mills for 40 years and also worked for Carolina Stalite until 1992.

Bigboy was a member of the Rock Grove United Methodist Church, which he helped to build the church and parsonage. He was a member of the Open Door Sunday School Class and was active in all phases of the church.

He was a member of Keller Memorial Masonic Lodge 657, East YMCA and helped at the Granite Quarry Meal Site. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed sharing his bounty with friends and family.

In addition to his parents, Bigboy was preceded in death by brothers, Max Kluttz, Doc Kluttz, Jack Kluttz; and his twin sister, Fern Kluttz Ward.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Basinger Kluttz, whom he married on Nov. 3, 1949; daughters Connie Holshouser and husband Dennis of Rockwell, Seleta Spry and husband Ricky of Salisbury; sisters Mary Helen Shive of Salisbury, Jo Eagle of Rockwell, Virginia "Bill" Sifford, Peggy Bost of Salisbury; brother George Kluttz of Rockwell; grandchildren Travis Holshouser, Amy Holshouser Powell, Jonas Spry and Carly Spry; great-grandchildren Anna Scott Holshouser, Baxley Holshouser, Emerson Holshouser, Gavin Powell, Ella Powell and Parker Powell.

Visitation: 2 to 3 p.m. Thursday, July 29 at Rock Grove United Methodist Church.

Funeral Services: 3 p.m. Thursday, July 29 at Rock Grove United Methodist Church conducted by the Rev. Randy Lucas, pastor, and the Rev. Paul Starnes, retired Methodist minister.

Burial will follow at Brookhill Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Rockwell.
